Former Guild Master, Guild Champion and Guild Secretary and King of Rosada.
Spike Archer, only son of Eddie and Charlotte Archer, joined the Aberddu Adventuers Guild after various maritime exploits in 1100AC. His early months there were unremarkable, but by listening to the tales of former members told by Tallyarn Calasiouve, he gained an appreciation of the guild's history and heroic tradition.
Things changed in 1101AC. Spike managed to seduce Princess Kizziera of Rosada after her sixteenth birthday celebrations, and they became engaged. Soon afterwards, Spike was chosen to quest for The Magna of Illusion with five others. This made Spike's name and the rewards were large. He is the only surviving member of that expedition.
Having been tutored in trap making by Bartleby Gregori, Spike expanded upon his mentor's techniques and became a master at the art. It is possible he became involved in the Ghost's Guild.
After a wedding on the 2nd of May 1102AC, Kizziera was abducted by mercenaries acting for 'Prince' Humperdinck. Spike killed the man with the aid of some of the mercenaries. After this, Spike made every effort to fortify the couple's house. A near-death experience also led to Spike developing vampiric strength, speed and resilience.
During the Summer of Fire, Spike fought in several battles in the city sewers against the invading pit creatures. He also fought at the battle at the end of the God War, but then left the mainland until after Salamander's death. Famously, his house survived the pit invasion due to the traps outside it.
Having sired a son by Kizziera, Spike attempted to meet his wife's dad in early 1103AC. This ended in disaster when Hazel killed him. Fleeing the ensuing revolution, Spike could only watch as the land was then overrun by the armies of Gnashrak. This eventually worked to his advantage. Gnashrak had over-extended his forces and could not feed them. With aid from T & T Trading, Spike was able to buy back the Middle Kingdom and then assume the throne.
Meanwhile the Guild was falling under the control of Dream and Nightmare, as the pair sought to use them as pieces in a contest. After the guild succeeded in assaulting the Dreaming, Spike tricked Dream into removing a coercer effect turning him against the Guild, then killed Nightmare with a manifestation of Elor's staff.
Spike fought in the Reckoning War Against Frisia, and was personally responsible for blowing up part of the pit gate. Sadly, he accidently killed Tal'd'ar Ethmon in the process, a fact he remains unaware of.
In October 1103AC, Spike suddenly died of a heart attack caused by vampiric corruption. Arising as a vampire, he insinuated himself back into the Guild. While evil, Spike had built a network of people to drink from and did not have to kill to get blood, although he breifly 'turned' Mrs Iona Pringle . A reshaping of reality led to Loki getting Spike's soul back into his body. Horrified at the change, Spike begged Moriquendi Sil'erbanis to clense him.
Spike became Guildmaster in 1104AC, taking over from Derrick Peterson. The motive for the latter's resignation was soon clear, as the Guild were exiled by Aberddu. Seeing morale wavering, Spike was determined that the Guild was not going to end on his watch. He led them into the forest and kept them together as a group, despite being assasinated on two occasions. He led the Guild in the Scrolls of Blood Campaign, a military success despite some fatalities.
When Aberddu Council reconstituted the AAG Spike was skeptical, feeling that the exile had been unjust and a repressive new charter added insult to injury. He rallied many guildmembers against it, but as time passed the new building began to fill up and Militia pressure mounted against the dissenters.
After private requests by both the new guild's members and the Council's puppet Guildmaster, Spike relented. He and the remaining partisans joined the guild, where his continuing popularity made him first Champion, then Guild Secretary. Unfortunately he was prevented from acting effectively by accusations of criminal dealings and the need to evacuate an entire nation away from the new pit gate. With the help of Mattheus Dawn and Xeva, the entire population were relocated.
Spike noted the end of the new charter with great satisfaction. He remains allied to the guild membership.
