Kit was born to the Kite Tribe, a clan of tree elves living in the deep jungles of Ctuma. His people made their home in the ruins of an ancient pyramid city, and spent their days simply: hunting, fishing, avoiding being taken by slavers, avoiding being eaten by tigers, and licking certain varieties of toads. Of all these activities, Kit preferred the toad licking. He wasn't much of a hunter, and instead spent his youth playing practical jokes. He was very much dedicated to the Trickster Monkey god, and many of the Kite Tribe fell foul to his (generally light-hearted) tricks. Whilst most laughed off finding a jungle skunk in their hut or being convinced that stinking swamp-mud did wonders for the skin, the curmudgeonly clan shaman Raada did not. In fact, he began to grow very, very annoyed with young Kit. Alongside his tricks, Kit loved to explore the ruins where his tribe lived. He would squirm his way into forgotten tombs and crawl down collapsed passages, intrigued by the remnants of the lost civilisation. By torchlight, he would examine carvings on the walls of the dead rising from their graves at the whim of a feather-garbed priest. It was all very intriguing. He discussed his discoveries with his grandmother, who quietly informed him that it sounded like death magic. If he kept it discrete, she told him, she could teach him a bit of it – how to raise a zombie, and about the charms, dolls, and gris-gris which would let him control the void's energies. However, she continued, he really mustn't go using his magic too publicly. The tribespeople were a bit iffy about that sort of thing, particularly Raada. Kit wasn't very good at being low key and Raada wasn't very pleased to be leapt upon by zombie baboons whenever he settled down to meditate. He tried to convince the tribe chief to have Kit exiled, but to no avail. A more devious plan was needed. Raada had heard a rumour of a group of great and terrifying warriors who had come to the jungle from the west, annihilated an entire tribe right down to the children, killed the tribe's god, and then left again. These genocidal, Ctuman hating murderers, he had been told, went by the name of the Aberddu Adventurers Guild. If they'd managed to wipe out an entire tribe, Raada figured, one more solitary elf wouldn't be too much of a problem. As such, Kit was politely informed by Raada that the best place for him to indulge his inquisitive, adventurous spirit and learn more about his particular choice of sorcery would be Aberddu. Kit rather liked this idea, as not many people seemed to appreciate his dancing zombies routine. He set off almost immediately, pausing only to thank Radaa by summoning magical darkness around him whilst he was visiting the toilet pit. Some months later, plotting his entrance the whole way there, Kit arrived in Aberddu. Luckily, he'd heard enough tales of the horrors of the Frysians from refugees to enter from the south side of the city. The opportunity to fight those who had enslaved more than a few of his fellow Ctumans was pleasing to him, and he was glad to hear that the Adventurers Guild were at the forefront of this operation. He began making enquiries...
