The power to manipulate the minds of others is the domain of the coercer. Drawing their power from the Astral plane, a strange twilight realm that runs parallel to our own reality, the coercers attack the mind directly, forcing it to obey their commands. As a profession coercers are considered true wizards rather than dabblers such as the bard. Their arts are not well suited to the battlefield, but in a social situation their powers over the minds of others makes them highly valued as covert operatives, or spies. Perhaps because of this there is a tendency for them not to be widely trusted, and in recent times the epithet ‘mind rapists’ has been applied to these mages, in some cases with little justification.

Because their magic affects the minds of others, for game purposes characters this class are not required to Vocalise their spells. Instead they may ask a ref or a Marshal to tell the subject of the spell what is occurring. If none are available to over see this the target must role-play not being aware that they are being affected by the spell. The fact that they do not need to vocalise means that they are unaffected by spells that stop Vocalisation.

Level 1

Befriend

By casting this spell the coercer manipulates the mind of an individual touched making them treat the caster like a friend for the next 15 minutes, if they fail the save. This magic will not cause the target to perform any acts that are against their nature.

Confusion

This spell places a miasma over the thoughts of another being touched by the caster if they fail a save. For the 15 minutes of the spell they will be unable to perform any actions or follow any complicated instructions. For spell casters this has the additional effect of stopping them cast any spells that are of their highest level of all spell classes they own.

Drunk

This spell puts an individual touched by the caster in a state of drunkenness for 15 minutes if they fail a save. The effects of this are many and varied, and greatly depend upon the temperament of the target. Generally speaking it will make the target more reckless and enhance the mood that they are in at the time.

Sober

The opposite of Drunk this spell briefly sobers up a person who is in a drunken or extreme state of mind. Target calms and becomes more rational for the next 15 minutes. This does not cause or prevent hangovers, much to the dismay of many coercers.

Level 2

Mind link

When he learns this spell the Coercer can for the first time link two minds in a co-operative manner with but a touch. In the next hour either participant can send a single thought or sentence through the link, after which the link ends. If the link is broken by any means (ie the death of one of the participants) both linked minds will be aware of it.

Overlook

By use of this spell the caster causes the individual touched to become unnoticeable, the minds of those who look in their direction will simply ignore the presence of the caster for 15 minutes. This is broken if anything draws attention to them, such as their movement or speech, or even some-one bumping into them. This is not invisibility as such, and so spells such as spirit eyes or sight of god will not detect the caster.

Seduction

This spell produces amorous feelings in the individual touched towards the caster of the spell for the next 15 minutes, if they fail the save. However it does nothing to protect the caster from the after effects of such a spell, such as children and crossbow weddings.

Veiled Sight

By casting this spell the caster causes a part of the brain to ignore passive attempts at affecting the mind of the individual touched. The Target will be immune to all Natural abilities that affect the mind and Hypnosis for the duration of the spell.

Level 3

Emotion

Seen by many as the coercers signature spell, this allows the caster to cause the individual touched to feel any one emotion that they choose for 15 minutes, if they fail the save.

ESP

A Development of Mind Link this spell allows the caster to link with a single mind within 10 feet and to fully communicate, mind to mind, with them for 15 minutes, as long as they stay within range of each other.

Sleep

When cast upon an individual touched by the coercer this spell putts them to sleep for a maximum of 15 minutes, if they fail the save. They cannot be woken by any means from this sleep for the first 2 minutes, but afterwards will they can be woken by any means (vigorous shaking, stabbing them with a sword etc…)

Truth

When this spell is cast upon an individual touched by the caster they become compelled to answer the next question the caster asks them directly and with complete honesty if they fail the save.

Level 4

Forget

With this spell the coercer causes the memory of the last 24 hours to be removed from an individual within 30 feet for the next 15 minutes, if they fail a save.

Mind Bolt

The caster sends a bolt of mental energy directly into the mind of any one individual within 30 feet. If they fail the save they receive two points of through damage to the head.

Shadow Warrior

This spell summons a creature with a single handed weapon formed from the astral plane to do his bidding for the next 15 minutes. The creature has the following skills and abilities:

The creature is unintelligent but will follow commands given by the caster (ie: ‘defend me!’). At the end of the spell the creature disappears to where it came from.

Temptation

The caster causes an individual that they touch (if they fail the save) to see their greatest desire in a place specified by the caster. What the subject of this spell will to gain that object depends upon the intelligence of the target, a ogre may be convinced to throw himself of a cliff to get to the gold at the bottom, but an elf will more likely attempt to climb to the bottom

Level 5

Ghost Walk

This spell allows the caster to project their mind onto the astral plane, and travel around there at their normal speed. They can see what is occurring in the astral and physical world, but are insubstantial and cannot interact with the physical world, and can only be seen if some one is concentrating upon seeing them. However, if they do not return to their body within the 15 minutes of the spell their body will die and they can only be returned to it via soul combat.

Infatuation

Beyond seduction this spell allows the caster to cause an individual within 30 feet to become infatuated with them for the next hour, if they fail the save. They will doggedly follow the caster, protect them, and be exceptionally susceptible to the casters suggestions, however, the spell will be broken if the caster attempts to convince them to perform an action that is completely against their character.

Mind Blank

This spell suppresses the personality of the individual touched by the caster, if they fail a save. They become the mindless slave of the caster for the next 15 minutes. They require precise instructions, and will continue to follow the instructions until given a new one. Needless to say they cannot cast spells.

Mind Blast

This spell renders an individual within 30 feet unconscious for 15 minutes, if they fail the save.

Level 6

Justice

This spell causes a single individual within 30 feet of the caster to see and hear the screaming faces of everyone they have ever killed for the next 15 minutes. They can react to this however they wish, but they cannot see anything other than the faces, and any-one who wishes to communicate with them must shout to be heard over the screams.

Nemesis

By using this spell the coercer psychically discovers from the mind of one individual within 30 feet their greatest fear and then tricks them into believing that that they are in a situation where that fear is invoked (ie, some one with fear of the dark will be plunged into darkness, whereas some one who is scared of Orcs will believe that there are several standing in front of them) if they fail their save. The caster will not necessarily be aware of what the target’s fear is.

Psychic Blast

This spell sends forth a sudden telekinetic blast from the mind of the caster to an individual within 30 feet. They take 5 points of damage to each location.

Telekinesis

Using the magic of their mind, this spell allows the caster to lift, move and manipulate any objects that they can see. With the initial spell points used the caster can only affect an object the size of a small weapon. By using more spell points the caster can affect larger objects, for one extra spell point an object the size of a sword can be moved, for two a two handed weapon, and other objects larger than this at ref discretion. Objects can only be moved at walking speed but can be manipulated as long as the caster can see them.

Level 7

Call Item

This spell allows the caster to attune themselves or another individual to a specific item, and must cast this spell on the item each day for seven days. After witch they can then summon that item by vocalizing ‘by my mind summon (specific items name)’. The item will then teleport to the caster if it is on the same plane of existence.

Insanity

A more powerful and dangerous version of emotion this spell allows the caster to cause an insanity to seize the mind of an individual within 30 feet if they fail their save. They will act as if they are insane for the next hour. The insanity must be specific, the caster cannot just tell the target to cluck like a chicken.

Mind Union

This spell allows the caster to link minds just like ESP with a range limited only by plane. They will also immediately know if the caster is in danger.

Puppet Master

This spell, the perfection of the coercer’s art, allows the caster complete control over the mind of an individual within 30 feet for one hour, if they fail the save. The caster can see through their eyes and make them do what ever the caster wishes. At the end of the spell the Individual will wake up and not remember a single thing about the hour that has just passed.
