Bards wield the ability to conjure visions, and influence people around them by channeling the magic of their voice or music. Bards may be employed in a number of different areas such as storytellers, actors, musicians and artists. They can serve as information gatherers, which makes them ideal adventurers. Whilst bards are not true warriors they can hold their own in a fight and they have developed their own magics that are weaved by voice and harmony. Certain bard spells require the caster to chant after their vocalisation. This means that if they are hit during their chanting it will stop the spell in question in the same way as being hit during vocalisation does. Targets will only be affected by a bards spells as long as they can hear the bard.

Level 1

Calming Voice

This spell allows the caster to talk any non-magical animal within 10 feet into not attacking the caster if they fail a save. It will only work as long as the caster keeps chanting, for example "Nice wolfie, don't eat the bard, no, not the bard."

Feign Death

When cast this spell gives the caster the appearance of a corpse. It lasts for as long as the caster does not move within the 15 minutes. It fools most people but does not stand up to close scrutiny by a healer ie, some one with bind wounds.

Summon Weapon

This spell enables the caster to fashion an ordinary non-magical, one-handed weapon out of the air around them. The type weapon should be named when it is summoned (eg. Summon sword, summon mace or summon sharp haddock). The weapon will only last as long as the caster keeps chanting; however this chanting is not effected if the bard is struck.

Vision

This lets the caster project an image that they are describing. The image must be a single static illusion and lasts for a long as the caster is chanting. It will only be as accurate as long as the bard is describing the same image.

Level 2

Disguise

This allows the caster to alter their appearance for 5 minutes. This spell does not enable the caster to drastically alter their features, but it does allow for subtle changes, for example a bigger nose, different colored eyes etc.

Gentle Persuasion

This lets the caster persuade an individual within 10 feet to treat the caster as a friend if they fail a save. The target will remain friendly towards the bard for as long as the bard can give a convincing argument for their actions. The spell only last as long as the caster continues chanting, and cannot be used to make the target act completely out of character. However, unlike the befriend spell, it cannot be recognized as a spell by most targets.

Sleep

With this spell the caster can cause a target they are touching to fall asleep if they fail a save. The sleep lasts as long as the caster keeps talking to them about sleep. The caster does not have to continue touching the target.

Summon 'Specific' Weapon

This spell enables the caster to fashion a one handed, non-magical weapon of a specific substance out of the air around them. The type and substance of the weapon must be specified in the vocalisation, for example: summon crystal mace, or summon silver sword. The weapon only lasts as long as the caster continues chanting, but this chanting is not interrupted if the caster is struck.

Ghosts

This lets the caster project an image that they are describing. This image is in the form of several static illusions and lasts as long as the caster keeps chanting. They are only as accurate as the bard describes them.

Inspiration

When this spell is cast the target is filled with extra confidence and bravery inspired by the speech of the bard before the spell is cast (Ie, the caster makes an inspiring speech and then casts the spell). It grants the target an extra temporary endurance rank for the following 15 minutes. Bards can choose to cast this on themselves.

Mute

The bard can use this spell to strike a target (within 30 feet) mute for 1 minute if the target fails a save. This means that the target may not vocalise any spells while they are mute.

Voice of healing

This spell allows the caster to channel their harmony into up to three targets that they are touching. The targets gain half their endurance ranks total in magical healing (rounded up). This spell cannot heal the caster.

Level 4

Legion

This spell allows the caster weave an illusion about themselves and alter their appearance in major ways, including changing their racial markings for 15 minutes, However it does not allow a change in body mass or sex, unfortunately.

Lullaby

This spell is a 10 ft ranged version of sleep.

Summon Special Weapon

This spell calls into being a specified one-handed, non-magical weapon that can be made of any specified substance and have one of the following effects: cold, flaming, or through.

Voice of Command

With this the bard can make an individual within 10 feet obey any reasonable commands given by the caster if they fail a save. For example they will not obey "jump off that cliff, old boy" but they will obey "run away from danger, in that direction" and hence fall off a cliff. This spell lasts as long as the caster remains persuading the target and cannot be used to make the target act completely out of character.

Level 5

Dancing Phantom

This spell allows the bard to summon an image which they are describing. This image is in the form of a mobile illusion, whose form may change as the caster describes it moving. It can move as far away as the caster's voice can reach.

Heart of Fury

This spell allows the caster to incite a berserk frenzy within an individual within 10 feet if they fail a save. The target acts as if in a tartar's frenzy - 10 seconds of berserk followed by 20 seconds of agony.

Mass Sleep

This allows the caster to make up to 4 individuals within 30 feet to sleep if they fail a save. They stay asleep for as long as they can still hear the caster chanting.

Scream of the Banshee

When casting the spell the bard emits a piercing scream that deafens all who hear it if they fail a save. This deafness lasts for 1 minute and does not affect the caster.

Level 6

Rabble Rouse

This spell allows the caster to infuse up to 4 individuals (this may include the caster) with extra strength and bravery, granting them each an extra endurance rank each for 15 minutes. This is inspired by the speech the bard said just previously to casting the spell (like in inspiration, level 3)

Solid Illusion

This allows the caster to summon forth a single, solid, mobile illusion. This acts and looks as is described by the bard, and has no form of intelligence. It has 4 hits per location, and does single-through damage, but only if the caster remembers to describe it as such.

Sword of Harmony

This spell summons a sword made of pure sound. It has no effect upon unarmoured individuals, but will remove four points of any armour (including magical armour) per blow. As with all weapon spells, the chanting associated with this spell will not be affected if the caster is struck.

Voice of Reason

This spell can soothe a berserking target, including a frenzied tartar. This spell will cause the target to remain calm for 1 minutes. If the target is a tartar, the tartar's frenzy is used up.

Level 7

Destroy Morale

This spell allows the bard, through a combination of speech, song and magic, to demoralize an enemy of up to 4 individuals within 30 foot to a point where they almost abandon their purpose. The targets lose 1 endurance rank for 15 minutes (no save) and will not be able to carry out their objective for 2 minutes, if they fail a save.

Harp of Despair

On casting this spell, the bard causes the particles of the air to vibrate and cause a melody that drives all within a 30 foot radius of the bard mad. All who fail the save fall over in agony and cannot do anything for the next hour, although they take no damage from this spell. The bard who casts the spell may end it at any time (as per usual).

Instruct

This spell causes an individual within 10 feet to obey any command given by the caster for the next hour, if they fail the save. This is not mind control, and all commands given must be role-played out. However, the target will act out of character if commanded to do so by the bard.

Scream of Vengeance

When this spell is cast the bard issues a scream of focused magic and harmony at one individual within 30 feet. If they fail the save they suffer 4 points of enchanted damage to each location.
