Originally named Kashulti a half Wood Elf, half Earth Elf from the Elven Forests was an oddity, born with two separate minds within a single body, she was shunned by many of her kin. As such she would wander through the forest, being ample company for herself. Walking a path she hadn't followed before, the way ahead appeared to be symmetric about the center of the path. Thinking nothing of the situation, she continued until, passing beneath the boughs of two mirror image trees, she was struck to the ground by a blinding pain and passed out. Coming to hours later she awoke in a pool of blood, luckily unscathed, but feeling strangely empty inside. Casting around for a reason, she saw another elf lying nearby, also covered in blood but seemingly unharmed. She knew this elf was part of her the moment she saw her and the pair clung together. Having no memories beyond the accident they were forced to find some way to survive on their own. They aimlessly walked the land until they were discovered by a benign hermit, who took care of them until they were better able to do so for themselves. He named them and clothed them and directed them toward Aberddu where they might make themselves a future. Or at least that's what they were telling people.
The newly named Ashanti Shadow-Chaser and her sister Kully N. Shadow-Dust, arrived in Aberddu in 1103 and joining the guild seemed a good idea at the time. Her first days at the guild were an eye-opener. Prominent guildmembers and drunkards at the time, Jonathon Weston and Frizwold Smith, seemed to take great delight in tormenting the newcomers, prompting the response, 'Oooh, innocent elves!'.
As time progressed, Weston sobered and he and Ashanti grew closer, but were both incapable of expressing themselves and so nothing became of their friendship.
After witnessing Weston's death at the hands of a demon in the guildhouse, Ashanti went a bit off her rocker and after many months of soul searching she turned to the Goddess of Life to help her through. After having been a warrior for some years, used to the taking of life instead of the restoration of it Ashanti has always been at odds with both these ideals.
In 1105 rumours of the God Slayer started to circulate in conjunction with the emergance of the Pit Lord Samael Morgenstern. The prospect of all the Gods being killed by some demonic entity didn't sit too well with some of the guild and a small party foolishly volunteered to go and sort it out; Nix, Weston (mysteriously ressurected from the dead for this one last feat of goodness), (a fireElf played by Mel) and Ashanti. Turned out the God Slayer was going to be born of Morganstern and a mortal that he had stolen and kep sequestered in the Pit for some time. Upon entering the pit, Ashanti and the other party members were knighted as Lord/Lady, slayer of dragons and demons by Freemonte upon entering the Pit. After some shannanigans including Pit Hounds, their own graves complete with headstones written in demonic script and a group of demons who weren't half bad (they let the party crash in their caves and offerd them food and such. They were of the opinion that whilst most demons wanted wonton destruction including but not limited too the entirety of creation, this was foolish as there would be nothing to do afterwards) they were the demons of the green cross. Having reached Morganstern's humble abode, the party sought out the child, as well as murder and desercation. It's uncertain whether the perpetrator still owns the sword shaped cut-out of one of Morganstern's tapestries. Rescuing the child from the Pit, Ashanti was given the responsibility of caring for the child, whom she dubbed Sebastian, and showing him that destroying the Gods was not his destiny and that he could choose his own. This was met by a mixed reaction from Sebastian. Whilst he did not attempt to massacre all of the Gods (which was nice), he did have some issues about the way in which he was 'rescued' from his mother...
Ashanti did a brief stint in 1105 as Guildmaster before escaping to Albion after threats on her life from the city council (who, as it turned out, were apparently demons, who would have thought it). She spent some time there as an advisor to the Albion Gentlemans Guild, returning to Aberddu in November 1107. It was also during this time that she was killed by an ice elemtal and fell into the undergrowth, completely obscured from searching eyes, but it was okay, some nice people organised a soul combat and things turned out just fine.
In the years that followed she hung around the guild, filling the positions of guild champion (in two different stints) and possibly breifly as guild healer too.
During the summer of 1108 the black inquisitor of Frysia was on the rise once more only this time he needed to rebind his soul to the demon that granted him much of his power. The guild cunningly chose this time to act against him. The Frysian resistance, a bold yet woefully small group of people, led the guild to one of their safe house where they set up base camp. 3 items were required in order to destroy the bond; a scroll, and 2 other things. There was some Frysian spy amidst our glorious number (whose name I have forgotten) who stole the scroll, but I think we got it back later and gave him a good kicking for the trouble he caused. Arkhan Merrion RIP, reading the scroll, bound his soul to the demon, depriving the black inquisitor of his power and sending the demon back into the Pit where it could cause no more trouble on the material plane. Unfortunately for Ashanti, one of the black inquisitors minions turned her into a demi-liche. This did not go down well as she was forced to go forth and attack the guild. It turned out okay in the end though as by some freak chance of fate she was retured to normal a hairs breadth before she got vaopurised by the Greater Ritual of Life that Nix cast upon her. After returning to Aberddu Ashanti once again went a bit off her rocker, having been turned into an abomination to her Faith and having been forced to attack her friends and associates, she put down her swords and tried this thing called pacifism. Some after this a mist descended upon Aberddu with many etherial soldiers marching through it. Anyone who stayed to long within it fell to the ground, their souls missing. In an attempt to seek those who might be able to fix the guild members without souls, she was caught in the mist and lost her soul too. Some confusion ensued and the etherial soldiers were now much less etherial and turned out that they were elves fighting against some humans. The party warned them of a greater threat, known as frysia, who would, in the future try to massacre all of the non-pureblood races. After they left the elves ambarked on a tryannous, opressive reign over any purebloods in their kingdoms, resukting of course, in an uprising of the purebloods against the elves, forming their own country known as Frysia....
In recent months (1108/09) the Fea had started playing up ad they were having trouble in their own realm with an artifact called Magnamus (or something similar). The guild, however, went to a pub and got stuck in there for the entirety of mid-winter. A number of guild members were badly affected by mind effects including Ashanti who had all of her memories stripped away. This led to an interesting situation with a Keesoth cleric named Alistair, generally thought to be a bit of an evil bastard. No-one seemed to think much of the fact that Ashanti had started to hang out with him. One thing led to another and the pair of them went out and massacred a village on the outskirts of Aberddu whilst disguised as Albion soldiers (Well who would't?). After her memories returned she was riddled with guilt as the horror of what she had done sunk home.
Durning this time Ashanti had a crisis of faith (not that it was ever really that sturdy in the first place). The crisis was this: Given that Life is sacred and death is generally bad and dying must be a persons final act on the mortal plane, is that not in contravention of the Lady's Tennants? Logically therefor, Death must be a part of Life. This reasoning was frowned upon by the Lady Life who started withdrawing her gifts from the confused cleric. After some time an epiphany struck, in that there was no need to actually die, for the body is but a shell. One does not die at the end of their mortal existance but their soul ascends to the realm of Life and all is well with the world.
In October 1109 Ashanti was stolen from the guild house by evil demons mascarading as Eldoth and Ed and then swapped for a demon. The body snatching continued until they had Fenn and Solustaren on their side. This was rather unforunate as this left only one guild council member who was not a demon. Some of the more astute members of the guild had cottoned on to the fact that maybe, just maybe, something odd was going on with the fisrt of the four (Solustaren was a new conscript and hadn't had time to raise concern) because they had no souls! At this time it seemed prudent to the not-quite-Ashanti to set the guild on fire. This went well. For her. After growing tired of this she wandered out into the helpless peasantry to have some fun. The other not-quite-guildmembers also had a grand time all round.
