Agents from Aberddu identified the Peace monument as a cover for the construction of a permenant portal to the Pit. Moving across the boarder in secrecy the Aberddu Adventurers Guild gathered in a hunting lodge just outside freetown and sought to destroy the Pit Gate in two ways, One group attacking the physical structure and the other moving into the Pit and destroying it from that side. After losing many people in the attacks the gate fell and the guild fled back to Aberddu where their brave actions was portrayed by Frysian sympathisers as an attack on the principals of frysia itself.

It is still unknown whether it was the temple of life that hired the guild, or the Necromancer herself.

The Frysians invasion begins with the bloody battle of Middendorf, where the Adventurers bravely fight to protect the fleeing villagers, and many Adventurers are cut down. The rumour of Scathach turns out to be real, except that he is a Frysian construct, and is slain the evening before the battle of Middendorf.

Local tribes begin attacking the Adventurers, leading to the slaughter by the AAG of two entire tribes of C'tumans and the appearance of the "Rukan'Siethu" - the Obsidian Viper - a tribal "God" in the form of a huge black serpent. The creature is slain by the Adventurers, and is later found not to have been the Demon they had thought, but an embodiment of the spirit of the land.
Frysia marches once more on Aberddu, but this time the Queen's Guard of Albion moves to fight them, leading to a bloody street by street battle that lasts some time.
During the Autumn a wall is erected on both sides of the river, and through the new quarter. Albion controls the south side of the city, while the Frysians control the north.
Several weeks before Midwinter, after an attack on an Albion supply depot, the Queen's Guard marches to assault the frysian half of the city, leading to a renewed period of fighting, where neither side gains an upper hand.

The battle rages through the night, and it is only through the divine intervention of the Light Alliance Gods and the Sea God that the gateway is closed. During the battle four clerics are blessed by the light gods, including Jonah Lestyrian of the faith of Law, and Crone of the Faith of Amroth, they hovered 30ft above the ground, and the gods sent an army of servitors, and blessed those beneath with enchantments and healing. Amroth finally sent a Greater Avatar to aid in the battle. The battle ended when the sea, commanded by the Sea God, rose to wash away the incantors who were opening the gate within the pit.
Solomon Tyrell of the AAG raises as many members of the Militia - led by Jonah Lestyrian - as he can, and leads them to the Summer Palace; in the space of one day the City Council is arrested, put on trial for dereliction of duty in the face of a hostile invasion (i.e. doing nothing to stop the Frysian invasion, and hiding themselves away in the Summer Palace for the entire conflict), and hanged. Until an election could be called, Tyrell installed himself as Governor of Aberddu, offering the responsibilities of Lord Commander Militant to Jonah. However, the people of Aberddu decided they didn't want an election, given how badly things turned out the last time people were elected to office.

Steps are taken to establish the ruling Councils of Aberddu; the Council of Faiths (Temple leaders); the Council of Guilds (Guild masters); the Council Militant (Militia Watch Commanders); and the High Council (influential citizens of Aberddu, chosen for the High Council mostly because it is in their interests to ensure that Aberddu remains both independent and prosperous)
